Virginia Ginger Carlson, 63, of Tama, died Tuesday morning, November 9th, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown.Following her wishes, the family is holding private services following cremation. There will be no visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown is caring for Ginger and her family. Born Virginia Uhde on March 10th, 1947, in Marshalltown, she was the youngest child born to Leland and Frances (Stull) Uhde. She attended school in Marshalltown. On March 15th, 1991, she was united in marriage to Jerry Carlson, even though they were together many years prior. Ginger did in-home child-care and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Tama. She enjoyed plastic canvas crafts, talking on the phone, fishing and camping, her dogs Casper, Rufus and Thumper and treasured her family. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Jerry, two children: Jerry Carlson, Jr. and Fran Carlson both of Tama, grandchildren Andrew and Cheyana Brownfield, sister Rosie (the late Russell) Davis of Marshalltown, brothers Butch (Jan) Uhde of Conrad and Frank (Karen) Uhde of Thornton, Iowa, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In death she rejoined her parents and baby brother Leland who died at 10 months of age.
