Virginia Ferneau

Virginia Mae Ferneau, 88, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Virginia and her family. Virginia Specht was born on March 3, 1928 in Marshalltown to Alva and Grace Boyle Specht. On February 7, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to her first husband Hubert Grabenbauer in Marshalltown. Hubert passed away in 1989. Virginia later married Richard Ferneau on July 1, 1995 at St Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Virginia was retired from Fisher Control as a Purchasing Supervisor. She enjoyed making ceramics, traveling, camping, bird watching and baking. She loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She also adored her great-grandchildren and would light up every time they were around. Virginia is survived by her husband of 20 years, Richard. Children: Alvan Grabenbauer of Marshalltown and Mark Grabenbauer of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Nalaina (Stephanie) Baker of Milliken, Colorado, Melissa (Carl) Harrison of Mulberry, Kansas, Kevin Grabenbauer of Nevada, Iowa and Andrew Grabenbauer of Colo. Great grandchildren: Brayden Schmidt, Byron Whitaker, Riley Whitaker, Addysin Harrison and Carly Harrison as well as her beloved pets: Mitzi, Cassie and Abbie Grabenbauer and numerous other relatives and friends. Virginia is preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Grabenbauer, first husband Hubert Grabenbauer, parents Grace and Alva and sisters Charlotte (Specht) Mulcahy and Evelyn (Specht) Eige.
