Virginia Harrington

Virginia May Harrington, 87, of Marshalltown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2014, under the loving care of Grandview Heights, with her family by her side. Services for Virginia will be held at Mitchell Family Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, with visitation to greet friends one hour prior to the service. Virginia was born on September 18, 1926, to Earl and Josephine Glenney in Union, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Union, graduating in 1946. Virginia worked at Bishops, Carpet Mart, the Coca Cola Plant, McAllisters, Ewers Shoes, J. C. Penneys, and the Iowa Veterans Home for thirteen and a half years. She retired at age 65, and then volunteered at the Iowa Veterans Home and the gift shop at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Virginia was a member of the Eagles and Senior Citizens Center. Left to cherish Virginias memory are her son, Gary (Sue) Harrington; daughter, Sue Harrington; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren; and sister Arlene Crosser of Hubbard, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1968; and her daughter, Carol, in 2004; sister, Catherine Mackie, and brother, Wendell Glenney.
