Vivian Drury, 98, longtime LeGrand area resident, died early Sunday morning, August 26th, at the Villa del Sol where she has resided since October of 1989. Mrs. Drury was in the care of the Villa del Sol and the Iowa River Hospice at the time of her passing. Memorial services celebrating her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 30th, at the Villa del Sol Sunroom with Pastor Alan Mullikin of the LeGrand Friends Church officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. There will be no visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Vivian Grace Shore on April 20th, 1909, in Beaconfield, Iowa, she was the daughter of B.K. and Myrtle (Hoskins) Shore. The family moved to the area where she attended school in the area, attended 7th grade through her senior year in Green Mountain and graduated from the Green Mountain High School. On June 11th, 1927, she was united in marriage to Glenn Drury. They farmed in the Green Mountain community until 1941 when they moved to their farm outside of LeGrand. Mr. Drury passed away in January of 1985. She was a member of the LeGrand Friends Church. Surviving is her daughter-in-law Doris (Mel) Koch of Conrad, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren,3 great-great-grandchildren, and her sister Mildred Bennett of Jackson, TN. In death she has rejoined her parents, her beloved Glenn, son Richard in February of 1994, sister Lillian Keese in May of 2004 and step-grandson Justin Young.
