Vivian M. Yeager, 91, of State Center, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Grandview Heights with her best friend and loving husband of 72 years by her side. Memorial services for Vivian will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in State Center with Pastor Keith McDonald officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home West Chapel located in State Center, Iowa. She will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed in Vivians name to her family. Vivian Yeager was born on December 28, 1921, the daughter of William and Louise (McClury) Fisher. She was raised and educated in Washta, Iowa. On July 20, 1941, Vivian married the man of her dreams, Rodger Yeager in Delhi, Minnesota. From this union two children were born, Ruth and Wayne. Vivian was a homemaker, as well as a telephone operator for General Telephone Company in the late 1940s. For several years, Vivian and Roger were caretakers of the famous State Capital Rose Garden in State Center. She was a member of a bowling league and several card clubs, and was considered an antique picker. Vivian also participated in dog shows, showing the bulldogs that she and Roger raised together. She had a passion for antiques and refining, woodworking, raising and breeding bulldogs, windmills, baking, knitting, crocheting, engine shows, and auctions. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 72 years, Rodger Yeager; two children: Ruth Yeager and Wayne Yeager; grandchildren: Jeff Flowers, David (Caitlin) Flowers, Jennifer (Matt) Walton, Sara (Ryan) McAtee, Elisabeth Yeager and John ( ) Yeager; two sisters: Marvel (Larry) Callen and Bonnie Florke; many great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
