W. Wayne Wiley

August 21, 1926 — January 6, 2018

Wayne Wiley, 91, of Marshalltown, longtime Albion farmer, died Saturday, January 6th, at the Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown.           Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 10th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234.           Born Wallace Wayne Wiley on August 21st, 1926, one mile south of Union, Iowa, he was the son of Perry I. and Auriel Pauline (Cripps) Wiley. He received his education in a country school three miles west of Albion and then moved to Ten Sleep, Wyoming, to live with his dad’s uncle. His great-uncle raised over 1000 head of sheep and owned three taverns in the town that he laid out. Wayne returned to Iowa and lived at New Providence for a year, then north of Marshalltown, Marshalltown on Marion Street, east of Eldora on a 400 acre farm and then five years in the Hartland area west of Marietta.           On August 13th, 1950, he was united in marriage to Rosie Prim in Whitten. They made their home at Gladbrook, Hartland community, south of McCallsburg and then to the farm at Albion. Rosie passed away in December of 2002. On November 6th, 2004, he was married to Ilene Stole at the Little Brown Church and she survives him.           Wayne was a member of the New Hope Christian Church and was baptized into faith at the Bethel Grove Church at the age of 15. He enjoyed wintering in Texas, dancing and was a born farmer.           Left to mourn his loss are his sons: Donald (Jeanne) Wiley of Marshalltown, Glen (Maureen) Wiley of St. Anthony and Gene (Lila) of Zearing; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, his sister Lonna Moravec of Leander, TX and sister-in-law Donna Wiley of Grundy Center as well as many other family members and friends.           In death he rejoined his beloved Rosie, his parents, a brother Vern and a brother Charles who died in his youth.
