Wallace Leon Chrisman was born December 6, 1943 to parents Oren and Verda (Godfrey) Chrisman in Whitten, Iowa. He was the youngest of eight children. Wallace attended school in Eldora, Iowa and graduated from Eldora High School in the class of 1961. Upon his graduation, Wallace was drafted into the United States Armed Forces. Rather than being sent to Vietnam, Wallace worked in the Pentagon as part of their intelligence. Upon his discharge from service, he returned to Gifford, Iowa where he called home once more. On November 14, 1981, Wallace was united in marriage to his wife Barbara Slaybaugh at the Assembly of God Church in Eldora. The two raised Barbara’s children together as well as having one son together. Wallace’s faith was extremely important in his life. He was a devoted member of his church leading the youth group for 37 years. His faith to his church and the children of his youth group showed even as he would go out of his way to make an appearance on his way home from his doctor’s appointments, even though fatigued, while he was in the process of receiving and recovering from his kidney transplant. Wallace worked for 42 years at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown as a computer draftsman. Throughout his time there he made so many friends. In his free time, Wallace attended and was a member of the American Legion in Eldora, served as the treasurer of the Assembly of God Church in Eldora, and was actively involved with the church and the youth ministry. He enjoyed fly fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. Left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife Barbara; his children Tivon (Devorah) Feeley, Cynthia (Jim) Hildum, and Andrew Chrisman; his five grandchildren, Noah Hildum, Ari, Moshe, Sahrah, and Dini Feeley; his siblings Joy Navara and Larry (Sonny) Chrisman; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Oren and Verda Chrisman and his siblings Margie Bates, Ray Chrisman, Lois Drummer, Fern Cole, and Earl Chrisman.
