Walter Fricke

Walter Fricke, 78, passed away at the Eldora Rehab and Nursing Center on February 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a visitation held on Friday February 26, 2016 from 5 8 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences please on contact www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Walter was the middle child of Hiram and Leona (Muschick) Fricke. He made his boyhood home in State Center and Tama Iowa. Walter attended Tama High School and graduated in 1955. After his schooling Walter served his country honorably in the United States Army. On August 2, 1959, he was united in marriage to Judy (Rumbaugh). For the next eight years they lived on a farm in Tama County. In 1964, the couple moved to Marshalltown and Walter started working at Fisher Controls. Walter was a jack of many trades at Fisher Controls and retired as a foreman in 1999. Walter also worked at night with his lovely wife stocking shelves at Hy-Vee just for fun. Walter was a talker, he loved to talk about current events, his children, grandchildren, or Dodge trucks, and the only time you wouldnt hear him talk was when a western movie was on. After meeting Gene Autry as a young boy he was hooked, thats not the only thing that hooked Walter. He was avid fisherman and loved spending hour looking for the the big one that got away, but the most important things for Walter was his ever growing family. Left to cherish his memory is his sons: Stuart D. Fricke from Grinnell, Iowa and wife Larysa Fricke from Altoona, Iowa and Lorne G. (Paterna) Fricke of Marshalltown, Iowa, grandchildren- Tasia Hulin and Roman Fricke, and great grandchildren Triscety and Whylee Hulin. In death, he rejoined his loving wife of 52 years Judy, his brothers Richard and Ronald, and his parents.
