Walter Keith Witt (Jr.), 74, of Marshalltown, died Saturday night, March 17th, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 24th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow in the hospitability room of the funeral home. Private family interment will be at a later date. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the Marshalltown Dialysis Center. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Keith and his family. Born on November 4th, 1932, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Walter H. and Iva Mae (Davis) Witt. He was raised and educated in the Gladbrook Community all of his life and graduated from the Gladbrook High School in 1950. After this time, he served our country proudly in the United States Navy Seabees. He honorably served four years, some during the Korean War. On August 17th, 1963, he was united in marriage to Martha Foran in Omaha, Nebraska. They have made Marshalltown their home all of their married lives where he was employed at Lennox, then owned and operated Keith Witt Excavating and Grading before doing construction and long haul trucking until retiring at age 70. Keith was a businessman of integrity, honesty and loved his family and pets. He was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Martha, three children: Kathy (Kris) Holtsclaw of San Diego, Barbara (James) McCready of Independence, Missouri, and Brian Witt of Rapid City, South Dakota, eight grandchildren: Meghann, Keegan, Sara, Madeline, Ian, Anna, Emolly and Alexander, his sister and three brothers: Duane (Karen) Witt of Marshalltown, Larry (Karolyn) Witt of Altoona, Pat (Chuck) Beddow of Marshalltown and Dallas Witt of Chicago. In death, he has rejoined his parents, aunts and uncles: Ruby, Eddie, Homer, Marie and Charles, in-laws Oscar and Irene Foran and his special cat, Tiger.
