Waltraut (Trudy) Cronin, wife of Michael Cronin and mother to Patrick, graciously earned her wings to fly through the gates of heaven. Trudy fought a long hard battle against Lupus for many years until receiving a kidney from her beloved Michael. She went into renal failure, continuing to fight against the odds, losing her battle on November 3rd, 2022. She is no longer suffering and is resting peacefully.
Funeral services, ran by the family, will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi- St Henry Catholic Church with visitation prior from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Trudy was a very strong willed person, working hard to make each day meaningful, not letting her illness and pain get the best of her. She loved to bake and was an amazing cook. She was never one to sit back and watch others work. Trudy worked at Wal-Mart in the automotive area and previously at K-Mart until their closing. When she was not working, she was tending to her home and talking with her grandchildren who live in Germany through face-time. Trudy was an avid Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye fan.
In her early years, she played soccer professionally for fourteen years. Trudy and Patrick moved to Boone, Iowa in 1996. She was united in marriage to Michael Cronin on March 4th, 1998 at the court house in Boone. They resided in Boone until moving to Germany in 2001, returning to Iowa in 2011, making Marshalltown their home. Trudy was born in Germany to Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Doll, the 6th child of thirteen children, all of Germany.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved Michael; her son Patrick (Isabel) Pascher of Germany; her granddaughters, Marilou, Matilda and Emilia Pascher of Germany; her siblings in Germany; brother in-law, James Cronin; sister-in-law’s, Julie Anderson, Donna and Rhonda Cronin all of Marshalltown and Karla Eslinger of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Trudy is preceded in death by her parents, and one sister; her mother-in-law, Janice Cronin and nephew and niece, Kenneth and Cassie Anderson.
