Wanda L. Evans, age 84, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, May 1, 2026.

Memorial Services for Wanda will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026 beginning at 10:30 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 15 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials in Wanda’s name may be directed to the Binford House for a later designation. Wanda Lee Manley was born March 21, 1942 in Elk Creek, Nebraska. She was the youngest of nine children born to Warren and Sarah “Alice” (Edwards) Manley. She grew up in Elk Creek and Omaha. Wanda later graduated from Technical High School in Omaha, Nebraska with the Class of 1960.

After graduation, Wanda met James Evans while working together. On January 13, 1962, the two were united in marriage in Omaha, Nebraska. Shortly after their marriage, they called Sioux City their home where they had their two sons, David and Daniel. In 1967, they relocated to Marshalltown, Iowa where they called their forever home. Wanda was active in the Marshalltown Community. She began her career working for Marshalltown Savings and Loan and then Security Bank. In the later years of her career, she worked for Fiserv in Des Moines before coming back to Marshalltown to work for United Bank and Trust where she served as Vice President and from where she retired in 2008.

Wanda was known to be an extremely hard worker. Outside of the office, she was active in Marshalltown Chamber of Commerce, Tri-T and was honored to be the first female president of the Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown. On her 40th birthday, she took up golf and drinking scotch. She attended and participated with many different bridge groups in Marshalltown.

Those left to remember and cherish her memory are her children, David (Angela) Evans of Lawrence, KS and Dan Evans of Davenport, IA; two granddaughters, Hannah Evans and Briana (Andy) Kaehr; four great-grandchildren, Gemma, Naomie, Graham and John Kaehr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Evans; her parents; and her eight siblings.
