Wanda Deloris Hofer

Wanda Deloris (Ruff) Hofer, 91, of LeGrand, Iowa passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 surrounded by her family at Sunny Hill Care Center of Tama.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Garwin Union Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Wanda was born on December 21, 1931 at home in Carlton Township in Iowa and she was the daughter of Melvin and Wilma (Hall) Ruff. She attended several schools, including eight years in the same room school house, followed by Garwin High School from her freshman to junior year and finally graduating from Toledo High School in 1951. She was united in marriage on September 19, 1958 in Missouri to the love of her life, Foster Hofer. Wanda held various jobs including laundry attendant at Eldora Hospital, she also worked in hotel accommodations, and finally retiring from working at nursing homes. She was a faithful member of the LeGrand Friends Church and a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Among her many hobbies, Wanda enjoyed coloring books with felt-tip pens, word searches, puzzles, playing cards with Randy every other weekend and she also did a bit of canning vegetables in her younger years.

Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Foster Hofer; parents: Melvin and Wilma Ruff; siblings: Claris Wildermuth, Boyd Ruff and Neale Ruff; nephew: Allan Ruff, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
