Waunema Dolly Flathers, 79, of Marshalltown, died Sunday, July 13, 2008 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Hannahs officiating. Burial will be in the Timber Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family. Ph 641-844-1234.Born Waunema Marie Beaderstadt on April 12, 1929, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Orville and Elta (Schroyer) Beaderstadt. Dolly attended school in Marshalltown and graduated with the Class of 1947. On June 10, 1951, she married Lester George Flathers at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple raised 8 children together. Dolly was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading the Bible, and watching sports, especially Iowa Hawkeye basketball. She cherished her family and her faith.Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 57 years, Lester; her children, Marsha(Larry) White of Indianapolis, IN, Susan(Jeff) Schwend of Danielson, CT, Jerry(Claudia) Flathers of Marshalltown, Nancy(Tom) Dobson of St. Cloud, MN, Richard(Yorie) Flathers of Tokyo, Japan, Don Flathers of Marshalltown, and Ron(Shelly) Flathers of Marshalltown; her 17 grandchildren; her 8 great-grandchildren; her brother Melvin Beaderstadt of Murfreesboro, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents, son Robert, a grandson, Matthew, her brothers Jerry Beaderstadt and Lowell Beaderstadt, and her sister, Lucile.
