Wayne Jenkins, 89, of Marshalltown, died late Monday night, September 1st, at the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5th, at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Hannahs officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Dobson Cemetery near Garwin. Wayne was born on December 31st, 1924, in Marshalltown and graduated from the Marshalltown High School. On July 5th, 1953, he was united in marriage to Shirley Thurston at the Carlton Brethren Church. They made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives where he was employed at Dunham-Bush as a tool and die maker for 54 years until retiring at age 75. Wayne and Shirley were members of Fellowship Baptist and Carlton Brethren Churches. Surviving are his son, Michael (Teresa) Jenkins of Marshalltown, three grandchildren- Brittany Helsing, Kelsey Jenkins and Casey Jenkins and many nieces and nephews. In death, Wayne rejoined his wife Shirley who died on November 7th, 2012, his son Ron Helsing, one brother Earl, two sisters Janet and Bonnie and his parents.
