Wayne A. Jones

Wayne Jones, 70, of rural State Center, died Sunday morning, February 19, in the peace of his home while in care of his loving family. A celebration of Waynes life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 23, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center with Pastor Joan Swander officiating. He received his education in the Marshalltown Community Schools. On August 3, 1984, he was united in marriage to Mary (Wagoner) Meyer at their farm near State Center. They have made their home there ever since. Wayne farmed and drove school bus for West Marshall, did charter bus driving, was a pilot and taught dancing for 20 years. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in State Center. Left to cherish his memory are Mary, his loving wife of 27 years, children: Dee Ann Hon of Marshalltown, Shelly (Fred) Nadler of State Center, Rick Meyer in Minnesota, Brett (Shawna) Meyer of Des Moines, Bill (Shannon) Meyer of Waukee, Troy (Marci) Meyer in Minnesota, Tim (Mel) Meyer of St. Louis, MO, and Rodney (Kayla) Meyer of Iowa Falls, 19 grandchildren: Jennifer, Nicole, Cody, Dustin, Jessica, Jordan, Jake, Shae Lee, Dominick, Lyndsey, Rachel, Levi, Adam, Brooke, Ben, Garret, Faith, Gabriella and Bobby Jo, three great-grandchildren: Kristina, Madalyn and Alex, brother-in-law Bob Kellogg of rural Tama as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. In death, he rejoined his parents, brother in infancy, sister, Sue Kellogg, grandparents Earl and Pearl Pfantz and Mr. and Mrs. Jones and great-granddaughter Claire.
