Wayne Kouba, 82, of rural Garwin, died Sunday, December 23rd, at his home while in care of his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Immel of the Carlton Brethren Church officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Harry C. Harter Post #839 of the VFW. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa River Hospice. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born on February 18th, 1925, on the family farm in Tama County, he was the youngest of six children born to Pete and Velma (Lamer) Kouba. He graduated from the LeGrand High Schools Class of 1941. From 1944 through 1945, he served our country honorably in the United States Army Infantry stationed in France and Germany. On October 5th, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Vivian Rosfjord. They have made their home on the family farm where he was born all of their married lives where he farmed and also was an electrician. Mr. Kouba was a member of the Carlton Brethren Church and treasured his family. He enjoyed going to all of their ball games, watching sports, reading, the Iowa Hawkeyes, gardening (and sharing the produce with friends and neighbors) and going to his coffee group at the Sunrise Caf in LeGrand. Left to cherish his memory are his loving children: Annette (Jim) Morris of Troy, IL. Duane Kouba of Davis, CA., and Jan (Tim) Seim of Garwin, his treasured grandchildren: Benjamin and Heather Morris, Melissa (Dan) Collins, Robert Kouba, Blair (Jessica) Seim, Brock (Danielle) Seim and Walker Seim, his sisters and brothers: Marian Otta of McCallsburg, Carl (Carol) Kouba of Garwin, Frances Howard of Marshalltown, Evelyn (Bill) Bruster of LeGrand, George (Joyce) Kouba of Garwin, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, he has rejoined his parents and his loving wife, Vivian who died on January 18th, 2002. Memorials to Iowa River Hospice
