Wayne L. Morgart, 83, of Union, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at MMSC while in the care of his loving family and Iowa River Hospice.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Union Church of Christ. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Wayne Lavern Morgart was born on December 23, 1925, in Newburg, Iowa. He was the son of Rollie and Anna (Green) Morgart. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1943. He served our country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. Upon his return from military service, he attended school at MCC. He then went on to graduate from Drake University in 1954. On July 1, 1944, Wayne married Eva Rogers in Camp Hood, Texas. The couple lived in Marshalltown, Des Moines while Wayne attended Drake, and then moved to Union in 1954. Wayne taught business at Union-Whitten High School. He was a member of Union Church of Christ and Kiwanis. He was a lifetime member of Marshall County Vagabonds and the Adjutant for Union American Legion Post #255. He enjoyed teaching and camping. Wayne is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Eva, of Union; his children, Sue (Roy) Aasen of Lompoc, CA, and Bruce (Patti) Morgart of Apple Valley, MN; his 5 grandsons and 3 granddaughters; his 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In death, he has rejoined his parents, his 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and his daughter, Robin Carter, who died in 1988.
