Webb loved hunting, fishing boxing and working on cars. He enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving his country working on submarines. He was beloved by his students and co-workers. In 2011, Webb and Jean would eventually move back to Iowa and settle in Melbourne in order to be closer to their family.

Over the years, many of the activities that Webb enjoyed were also enjoyed across the family. This included hunting, fishing, camping and spending time together.
