Wilbur C. Dib Gould, 88, of Marshalltown, died Friday evening, February 19th, 2010, at the MMSC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23rd, at the Ferguson Bible Church. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Ferguson Bible Church. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Dib and his family. Ph 844-1234. Born Wilbur C. Gould on August 12th, 1921, in Cresco, Iowa, he was the son of Delbert and Celia (Miller) Gould. Dib served our country honorably in the United States Army during WWII and was discharged as a Staff Sergeant in the 902nd Field Artillery. On June 19th, 1947, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Vavra at the Little Brown Church. They made a return visit on their 50th Anniversary to ring the church bell. Dib was employed for 43 years at Fisher Controls until retiring in 1983. Mr. Gould was an active member and served as church trustee at the Ferguson Bible Church, the Frank Lewis Glick Post #46 American Legion, liked bowling and golf and was a die-hard Cubs fan (even going there for their honeymoon). Left to cherish his memory are Dorothy, his loving wife of 62 years, daughter Amy (Bruce) Thomsen of Urbandale, grandchildren: Troy (Holly) Thomsen and their children Tate and Natalie all of North Liberty, Iowa; Michelle (Chad) Oppedal and children Hunter, Connor, Grant and Claire all of Des Moines, his sister Lois Paxton of Union, Iowa, and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, Dib rejoined his parents and brothers Berkley, George, Raymond, Frank and Keith.
