Willard Duane Adair, 83, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel, 1301 Summit Street Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be directed to the family. Military Honors will be presented by Harry C. Harter Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #839 and American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post # 46. Willard Duane Adair was born on May 20, 1931, in Grinnell, Iowa; he was the son of Elvin and Marie (Lillie) Adair, and he attended school at Grinnell Community School District and graduated with the class of 1949. Willard honorably served our country in the United States Air Force from December 1949 until October 1960. In February 1953, Duane was united in marriage to Mary Lou Parker in Albuquerque, New Mexico; they made their home between Waterloo and Albuquerque. Duane had worked as a plumber pipefitter and belonged to the Steamfitters Local# 384. Duane enjoyed bowling, pool camping, fishing, flower gardening and the outdoors in general. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Dorothy Byrd of Albuquerque, New Mexico ,Robert(Kim) Adair of Sioux City, Iowa, Vance(Elizabeth)Adair of Sumner, Iowa, Diane(Bob) Kastli of Sumner, Iowa Gwen(Mike) Luenbergar of Waterloo, Iowa and Debra Adair of Albuquerque, New Mesico , 17 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. In death Duane rejoins his parents, Elvin and Marie, Wife, Mary Lou, sister, Lenna Clemmensen, granddaughter, Kayla Adair, grandson, Michael Adair and son-in-law, Bret Byrd.
