William Martin Cook, 74, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his home, surrounded by family and under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home.
A Celebration of Life for Bill will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. William Cook was born on October 24, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Beverlee (Bonney) Cook. After high school, Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1965 until 1967, where he did two tours in Vietnam. On February 14, 1993, Bill was united in marriage to Julie Frampton at Central Christian Church in Marshalltown. Bill was retired and had worked at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown in food service. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Bill also liked to watch westerns, especially Gunsmoke. His favorite quote to say was “Who woulda thunk it!”
William is survived by his wife of 29 years, Julie. Children: Michelle (Mike) Rutledge of Quarry, Erica James of Des Moines, Rochelle Losing of Yankton, South Dakota, Will Cook of Des Moines and Casey Cook of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Chandler, Shadea, Autumn, Brianna, Ashlyn, Joey, Olivia, Billy, Isaiah, Ross, Frankie and Charlie. He is also survived by his siblings: Ron (Peggy) Cook, Randy (Julie) Cook, Dennis Cook, Jackie (Greg) Mellerup, Diane (Billy) McKinney, Michelle (Pat) Petrell and Barbara Cook along with many nieces and nephews.
William is preceded in death by his parents, William and Beverlee; siblings: Becky Hall, Bonney Weber and Chris Cook and step-mother, Carol Cook.
