William “Bill” D. Lott, age 90, of Whitten, Iowa, passed away on the morning of January 13, 2026 in the comfort of his own home.

William Dean Lott was born October 29, 1935 in Eldora, Iowa. He was the oldest of four children born to Harold and Mildred (Earhart) Lott. Bill grew up in Whitten, Iowa where he later was a graduate of Whitten High School. Bill enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served his country until the time he was honorably discharged from service.
He moved to Minnesota where he would begin a career with Minnesota State Highway where he helped building bridges. Bill was the proud father of two children, Randy and Mike. He retired after 29 years of service and returned home to Whitten, Iowa. After moving back home, he met Sharon Hatch and the two became the best of friends over the last 22 years which they have spent making many happy memories. He enjoyed antique tractors and cars and was a member of the Marshalltown Antique Tractor Club along with Eldora Antique Tractor Club. Additionally, he was a member of the Antique Car Club. He was also a member of the Liscomb American Legion. While he enjoyed his time tinkering along the tractors and cars he also liked to work in their gardens in the summer and woodworking projects. He had the honor of being selected to go on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2024 and was a highlight for him over the last couple years and he often spoke of the memories of the trip.
Those left to remember and cherish his memory are his wife of 22 years, Sharon Hatch; his children, Randy (Jan) Lott and Mike Lott; children, Joy (Brett) McLain, Shelleen Hatch and Dan (Kori) Hatch; grandchildren, Samantha, Stephanie, Ryan, Tyler and Emma Lott; grandchildren, Brittany (Joel) Williams, Ashley (Ben) Boydstun, Shelton (Mitchell) Hoefling, Kerrigan Hatch, Tanner (Daisey) Hatch, MacKenna (Camden) Ewing and Alyssa Hatch and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Darlene (Jim) Riggs and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mildred Lott; his brothers, Dale Lott and Larry Lott; and his son, Kenneth Hatch.
