William E. Fricke, 82, of Marshalltown, died Friday, April 27, at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Daniel Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry C. Harter Post #839 and the State Center American Legion Post #122. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on September 15, 1929, in Liscomb, Iowa, he was the son of Christian John and C. Gertrude (Adams) Fricke. He graduated from LaMoille High School in 1947. A veteran of the Korean War, he served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1948 - 1957. On May 24, 1953, he was united in marriage to D. Joan Hoffman in Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Fricke was employed at Case Implement in Marshalltown, Giannetto, Inc. in Union, and also farmed. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Marshall County Republicans, VFW, American Legion, Marshalltown Noon Lions Club, and Taxpayers Association. He treasured his family, enjoyed farming and old tractors, and liked to share chocolate and orange slices. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, D. Joan Fricke, children: Larry (Gayle) Fricke of Clemons, Steve (Rose) Fricke of Marshalltown, Bill Fricke of Marshalltown, Pam Fricke of Marshalltown, Cynthia Grillas of Union, John (Michelle) Fricke of State Center, 19 grandchildren and a plethora of great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings- Dorothy Hegdahl of Marshalltown, Marilee Richter of Largo, FL., Bob (Shar) Fricke of Marshalltown, brother-in-law Jerry Miller of Des Moines, and many nieces, nephews and friends. In death, Bill rejoined his parents, sister Marlene Miller, and grandsons William Elgin Fricke and Jason Rice.
