William Edward Macy was born October 12, 1964 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the middle of three children born to Donald and Joyce (Hoing) Macy. Will grew up in Bangor, Iowa and attended school in the Union/Whitten school district where he was part of the class of 1983. Following high school, Will continued his life passion of farming where he took pride in raising livestock.

On August 16, 1986, Will was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jo Ann Clarke at the Conrad Methodist Church. They lived in Bangor, Iowa where they spent the first 23 years of their marriage, just South of the Bangor Church. Will and Jo were blessed with four children Emma, Jonathan, Clarke, and Olivia. Will continued to serve his community with kindness, sharing his unique gift of connecting with others and offering comfort and care. Will is sure to be remembered by many of his oldest daughter’s classmates for his bright yellow sweatpants he insisted on wearing to practices when he coached their AAU volleyball teams. Will was always an active member of the 4-H community, whether it be showing cattle himself or helping his children develop a love for 4H and helping them with their cattle projects. In 2010, after 23 years of living in Bangor and outgrowing their little house, Will made Jo’s dreams come true by moving the family to the Clarke Century Farm in Conrad, Iowa. In the last year, after the death of his sister, Will sought out something he would enjoy to fill his time. His dear friend, Glen Wiley gave him a job opportunity to drive a semi for him. Will took pride in driving the semi for a few hours each day and had a constructive outlet for his grief.

Will was a life-long member of the Bangor Liberty Friends Church, where he faithfully attended and served. He was the President for the Bangor Friends Cemetery. In his free time, Will enjoyed going to the Iowa State Fair yearly to camp with Jo, attend cattle shows, and help others to show their cattle. Will loved attending cattle sales, and would have daily if possible. He also enjoyed talking on the phone daily with friends dear to his heart, working in the garden, and going camping with family and friends. Will was known to have a generous attitude and always was willing to give the shirt off his back if needed.

Since childhood, Will went deer hunting with the same group, over the years those friends became family. One of the proudest moments in his life was when he was able to take his son, Clarke, deer hunting with the group for the first time. Above all of his hobbies and interests, being a father and grandpa was the greatest honor of his life. Will was always amazed by his children, that being very clear in how he would glow with pride whenever speaking about them. No matter the activity they were involved in, Will was their biggest supporter.

Will is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jo Clarke Macy; his children, Emma (Andy) Michels, Clarke Macy and Olivia Macy; two granddaughters, Madelyn and Isla Michels; one sister, Robin (Keith) Wendt along with their children, Jessica, Meagan and Brandon; his sister-in-law, Mary (Scott) Davis and their children, Katie and Jennifer; and brother-in-law, Stuart Fuhs.

In eternal life, Will is reunited with his son, Jonathan Macy; his parents, Donald and Joyce Macy; his sister, Beth Fuhs; paternal and maternal grandparents; and mother and father-in-law, Paul and Adeline Clarke.
