William Mattson

William “Bill” Mattson, 75, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, died early Wednesday morning, February 12, 2020, at the Iowa Veterans Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 14th at the chapel of the Iowa Veterans Home. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bill’s family.           William Joseph Mattson was born on April 20, 1944 in Jefferson City, MO, the son of Howard and Marjorie (Lewis) Mattson. He grew up in Jefferson City and attended school there. On December 15th, 1966, he was inducted into the United State Navy and honorably served our country in the Vietnam War. After two tours, he was honorably discharged on December 13th, 1968. Bill had lived in several areas before moving to Marshalltown in 2001. He worked in computer sales; and, he had engineered and built computer desks and work stations. He also enjoyed music, singing, cars and the Cubbies!           Surviving is his son, Michael (Rachel) Mattson; Michael’s mother, Nikki Mattson; and a grandson, Gabriel.Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby.
