William Bill Sievers, 75, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, September 10th, at the MMSC. Funeral services and a celebration of Bills life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 15th, at the 1st Presbyterian Church with Dr. Rich King officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born in the family home near Garwin, Iowa, on May 30th, 1934, he was the eldest child born to Harold and Alida (Billerbeck) Sievers. He attended rural country schools through the eighth grade and then graduated from the Garwin High School in 1952. On February 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Adair at the Carlton Brethren Church near Garwin. They made their home near Garwin, LeGrand, Minnesota and returned to Marshalltown. Later, he moved with Lennox to Texas until coming home to Marshalltown in 1996. For nearly 42 years, Bill was employed faithfully and full-heartily at Lennox Industries beginning as a punch-break operator/pipe crimper, then the service department, commercial sales in Minnesota, and in 1970 as Marshalltown Product Manager. In 1972, Bill was appointed Branch Manager of Central Division, later becoming Assistant Sales Manager of Operations and in 1991 as Sales Manager of the Midwest Division from which he retired. Mr. Sievers was an active and faithful member of the 1st Presbyterian Church currently serving as Elder, the Marshalltown Noon Lions Club, organizer of the Quakerdale Golf Tournament, the Masonic Lodge, Elmwood Country Club, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, the outdoors, the Vikings/Cubs and Hawkeyes, traveling, the Iowa State Fair and having his own designated stool and lifetime membership at the JAX Social Club. Left to cherish his memory are Bonnie, his loving wife of 56 years, his daughters: Gerene Thompson of Marshalltown, Jill Sievers (Denny Clemens) of Eldora, and Joy Sievers of Marshalltown, his granddaughter Lindsey Thompson of Marshalltown, brother Don (Mary) Sievers of Lisbon, Iowa, sister Joyce (the late Bill) Hite of Traer, sisters-in-law Betty (Jack) Keen of LeGrand, Barb (the late Gib) Rockhill of Warden, Washington and Dee (Dave) Kinney of Warrington, Oregon, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death he has rejoined his parents, his in-laws Orval and Mildred Adair, son Gary who died in 1977 and best friend Vernon Katzer.
