William Bill Waldon, 38, of Marshalltown, formerly of Des Moines, died Sunday morning, May 4th, at the emergency room of the MMSC. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Morris of the Grace Church in Des Moines officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Memorials may be directed to his family. Born William Parker Waldon on October 7th, 1969, in Des Moines, he was the son of Max and Marja (Parker) Waldon. He received his education in the Des Moines Schools and later his LPN degree from DMACC. Mr. Waldon was currently the assistant manager at the Git-N-Go Convenience Store at Center Street and Iowa Avenue in Marshalltown and had been previously employed at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Des Moines and the IVH in Marshalltown. Bill enjoyed attending church at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown where he and his wife, Melinda Mindy (Godfrey) were married on April 15th, 2000. He also enjoyed reading Shotgun News, reading and playing video games with his kids, Cub Scout activities with Matthew, teasing and will be fondly remembered as Mindys best friend. Left to cherish his memory are Mindy, his loving wife of eight years, son Matthew (age 7), daughter Emily (age 6), mother Marja of Des Moines, three brothers: Garry (Debra) of Des Moines, James of Seattle, and Jeffrey (Roxanna) of Camdenton, MO., nine nieces and nephews, two great-nephews, his father-in-law George Godfrey of Marshalltown, sister-in-law Missy Godfrey of West Des Moines and brother-in-law Greg (Carrie) Godfrey of Cedar Rapids. In death he has rejoined his father, mother-in-law, brother Bruce and two children miscarried.
