Willie Lee Andrews

Willie L. Andrews, lovingly referred to by his friends and family as “Bo” age 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa, returned to the arms of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. He passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines with his family by his side.

A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home of Marshalltown. Ordained Minister Earl Johnson and Deacon Ray Rockingham will be officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Willie Lee Andrews was born December 25, 1944, in Round Pond, Arkansas. He was the son of Jessie Andrews and Charline (Henderson) Anthony. He attended school at Marshalltown High School and graduated with the class of 1964. On April 22, 1989, he married the love of his life, Denise Ellen (Bailey) Andrews at Second Baptist Church. Willie retired from JBS Swift and Co. after dedicating 39 years and went on to work part time for Superior Cleaning and Service Master. He was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church and the Knights of Pythias. He was also a proud member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union. Physical fitness and sports have been a crucial part of Willie’s entire life. He played every sport available through high school and continued working out up until the week of his passing. He was also a sports fanatic and could talk to anyone about different teams and statistics. (UPDATE!!!) In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and traveling to other parts of the country. His family was very important to him, and he will be fondly remembered by everyone that knew him as sharp dresser and a very elegant man.

He is survived by his wife Denise E. Andrews; his children: Shawn Andrews, Tanya Fralin, Stephanie Andrews, Diana (John) West, and DaJeane (Marcel) Oden; 13 Grandchildren: Andrea, Joe Jr., Willie, Brandon, Marcus, Albre’a, Alrenae, Xavier, Jaydon, Jordan, Reonna, Dani, and Niah, 11 Great Grandchildren; Memphis, Tennessee Siblings: Jearline (Robert) Davis, Jessie (Peggy) Andrews Jr., Joseph Andrews, Linda Andrews, Blanchie (Dwight) McGaughy and Daniel Andrews; St. Louis, Missouri Siblings: Carol Dunning, Patricia Anthony, Dorothy (Virgil) Murphy, Jacksonville, Florida Sibling: Gail Andrews, and Dallas, Texas Sibling in-law: Charles White.

Willie is preceded in death by his father Jessie Andrews, his mother Charline Anthony, his son Kelly Andrews, his great-granddaughter Zy’ionna Lewis and his siblings: Donnell, Essie, Robert, Charlie (Brother-in-law), Shirley, and Ralph.
