William Anksorus, 85, of Marshalltown, died in the peace and comfort of his home on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 7th, with his family at his side. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 12th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with his grandson, Pastor Remington Anksorus officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors by combined Veterans of Foreign Wars Harry C. Harter Post #839 and American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. Born on August 22, 1927, in Chicago, he was the son of Anthony and Rose (Mueller) Anksorus. The family moved to the quality Iowa life and settled in Coon Rapids when he was a small child. He attended school in Coon Rapids and soon enlisted in the United States Navy for two terms, serving our country honorably in the United States Navy for seven years. On May 11, 1957, he was united in marriage to Collene McWilliams in Deep River, Iowa. Being a craftsman, he and Collene built their home near Marshalltown and restored three cars which will be used in his funeral. Mr. Anksorus was employed in construction work most of his life. He retired from Anksorus Trenching and Backhoe in 1999 after 27 years of faithful service to his clients. He previously worked for Rural Electric for 10 years. William was a member of the Antique Auto Club of America, the Marshalltown Area Restorers, VFW, and enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren, making wood projects and leather crafts, fishing, remote control aircraft, driving around on his golf cart, gardening, watching football, time in his shop and eating! Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Collene, his children: William (Lois) Anksorus of Granger, Indiana, Barry (Vicky) Anksorus of Ellsworth, Iowa, and Christine (Kevin) Ferneau of Marshalltown; grandchildren- Heidi Anksorus, Remington Anksorus, Matthew and Logan Ferneau, a brother Norbert of Franklin, NC, his cat Callie and two daughters- Denise and Teresa from his former marriage. In death, he rejoined his parents, brother Albert, sister Katherine and daughter Trudy.
