Winifred A. Frye

Winifred Arlene Frye, 84, of Marshalltown passed away Monday, February 16th, 2010 at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. A celebration of Winifreds life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Winifred Arlene Fouts was born in Marshalltown on October 13th, 1925 to parents John and Nancy (Price) Fouts. Winifred attended school in Marshalltown, graduating in 1943 at the age of seventeen. In 1948, Winifred was united in marriage to Floyd Edgar at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown. They later divorced. Winifred later married Clifford Frye. They later divorced. Winifred lived her entire life in Marshalltown. She had worked at Wehrman Optical, and Lennox, retiring in 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church, having given her gift of music singing in the choir for many years. Winifred loved gardening, golfing and traveling with her friends, especially the bus trips to nearly all the Twins games, and her volunteering as a greeter at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Winifred was a woman of many gifts, and the memories she has left will be cherished by all who knew and continue to love her. Left to celebrate Winifreds life are her son Craig (Kathy) Edgar of Marshalltown and Curtis (Dee Dee) Edgar of Cedar Rapids; her daughter-in-law Roberta Edgar of Marshalltown; her grandchildren: Serina (Scott) Stabenow, Chanda Edgar, Camille (David) Ellenz, Richard D. (Natalie) Edgar, and Rachelle Edgar; her great-grandchildren: Josephine, Lilly, Traejan and Reynnah; her brother Earl (Mina) Fouts of Marshalltown and her sister Bonnie (Ken) Scott of Roswell, NM; as well as many friends. Winifred was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Floyd Edgar, her brother Wayne Fouts, and her son Richard Edgar.
