The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Yvette and her family. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on September 29, 1928, in Gilley, Belgium, she was the daughter of Augusta and Leonie Frere. At the end of WWII, she came to the United States with her husband, Carroll Glenn, who was a US soldier in Europe. They made their home in St. Joseph, Missouri, where she was employed at a hotel waiting on President Harry S Truman. She was also employed at Stetson Hat Company, Career Placements for nearly 25 years and in 1999 moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, to be near family after the death of her husband of 43 years, Lewis Randolph. The two were united in marriage on May 25, 1955. In Marshalltown, she was the manager of the Crestview Apartments and was a foster grandparent at Fisher School- a job she truly loved. Mrs. Randolph was a 48 year member of the St. Joseph American Legion Auxiliary Post #359. Yvette, or Bonne Mama, which is French for grandma, will be fondly remembered for her love of family, knitting, reading, compassion and sense of humor. Everyone knew where they stood with her as there were no grey areas! She enjoyed her job as a foster grandparent and was the only one who had the achievement of teaching Spanish children the English language in a French accent! She loved music - from Disco to Sinatra and especially polka (just no country). Left to cherish her memory are her children: Roger (Sandy) Glenn of Dorchester, NE and Shirley Glenn of LeGrand, her grandchildren Christine Stout of St. Joseph, MO and her children Skyler and Aimee; Kimberly (Justin) Blue of Gifford and her children Brittney and Hayley; and Dina (Ross) Wiebensohn of Reinbeck, four step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as her longtime companion and friend, Bob Wyjack of the IVH. In death, Yvette rejoined her parents and her husband.
